A general synthetic method of N2,N(n+3)-di-p-toluenesulfonyl-(n+9)-hydroxy-(n+10)-hydroxymethyl-(n+9),(n+10)'-O-isopropylidene-2,(n+3)-diaza(2,5)pyridinophanes was established by the reaction of 5'-deoxy-2',5'-dichloro-3,4'-O-isopropylidenepyridoxine hydrochloride with N,N'-di-p-toluenesulfonyl-α,ω-alkanediamine disodium salt in N,N-dimethylformamide at 70-90 deg C in fairly good yield depending on the chain length.
