1-Boraadamantane (I) reacts with Et2NCl, NH2OSO3H or 2,4-(NO2)2C6H3ONH2 to form the 7-diethylaminomethyl- or 7-aminomethyl derivatives of 3-borabicyclononane containing Cl, SO3H or 2,4-(NO2)2C6H3O groups at the 3 position.Oxidation of the 7-aminomethyl derivative affords cis-1,3-di(hydroxymethyl)-5-aminomethylcyclohexane.I reacts with AlkNCl2 to form N-alkyl-3-azabicyclononanes with the dichloroborylmethyl fragment at the 7 position.Oxidation of the latter compounds gave 3-alkyl-7-hydroxymethyl-3-azabicyclononanes.
