Acetic acid icosyl ester, also known as eicosyl acetate or 1-eicosanol acetate, is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C22H44O2. It is an ester derived from acetic acid and eicosanol, a 20-carbon straight-chain primary alcohol. This organic compound is characterized by its long hydrocarbon chain, which contributes to its lipophilic nature, making it soluble in nonpolar solvents. Acetic acid icosyl ester is commonly used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, particularly as a skin conditioning agent and emollient, due to its ability to form a protective layer on the skin and improve skin hydration. It is also found in some natural products, such as certain plant waxes and oils.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 822-24-2 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 8,2 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 822-24:
(5*8)+(4*2)+(3*2)+(2*2)+(1*4)=62
62 % 10 = 2
So 822-24-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Trimethylsilyl Esters as Novel Dual-Purpose Protecting Reagents

Chen, Jyun-Siao,Huang, Po-Hsun,Hsieh, Ya-Chi,Liu, Jen-Wei,Hsu, Hsiao-Lin,Zhang, Kai-Min,Wu, Ren-Tsung,Chang, Ting-Shuo,Liu, Yu-Hao,Wu, Hsin-Ru,Luo, Shun-Yuan

supporting information, p. 754 - 762 (2021/12/02)

Trimethylsilyl esters, AcOTMS, BzOTMS, TCAOTMS, etc., are inexpensive and chemically stable reagents that pose a negligible environmental hazard. Such compounds prove to serve as efficient dualpurpose reagents to respectively achieve acylation and trimethylsilylation of alcohols under acidic or basic conditions. Herein, a detailed study on protection of various substrates and new methodological investigations is described.

Reptilian chemistry: volatile compounds from paracloacal glands of the American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus).

, p. 769 - 781 (2007/10/03)

The secretion of the paracloacal glands of the American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) contains over 80 lipophilic compounds, including saturated and unsaturated long-chain alcohols along with their formic, acetic, and butyric acid esters, and several isoprenoids. Most of these compounds were identified on the basis of mass spectra, obtained by GC-MS. In addition, identification of the major components was supported by infrared spectra obtained by GC-FTIR. Major differences are indicated in the composition of the paracloacal gland secretion of C. acutus and that of another crocodylid, the African dwarf crocodile (Osteolaemus tetraspis).
