5-aryl-2-(N,N-dialkylamino)furans were brought into the Diels-Alder reaction with maleic anhydride to obtain 3-N-morpholino-6-arylphthalic anhydrides and imides. The products strongly fluoresce in crystal.

The corresponding 5-aryl-2-alkylaminnofurans were obtained in good yields by the reaction of 1-aroyl-2,2-dichlorocyclopropanes with diethylamine, morpholine, and piperidine.
