Treatment of the vic-iodothiocyanate of either cyclic or acyclic alkenes with lithium triethylborohydride ("Super Hydride") gives thiirans in high yields.The structure of the product from r-1-iodo-1-thiacyanatomethyl-c-4-t-butylcyclohexane has been confirmed by an independent synthesis.
