2,4-Diiodopyridine is used in the synthesis of nicotelline-d8 (N401202). Nicotelline is used as a biomarker and environmental tracer for tobacco smoke. Isotope labelled Nicotelline is a Nicotine (N412420) related metabolite with potential as an inhibitor of human cytochrome P-450 2A6.
