Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 83966-25-0 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,3,9,6 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 83966-25:
(7*8)+(6*3)+(5*9)+(4*6)+(3*6)+(2*2)+(1*5)=170
170 % 10 = 0
So 83966-25-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Syntheses and iron binding affinities of the Bacillus anthracis siderophore petrobactin and sidechain-modified analogues

Bugdahn, Nikolas,Oberthür, Markus

, p. 426 - 435 (2014/01/23)

An improved synthesis of petrobactin and analogues has been developed that provides reliable access to siderophores in sufficient quantities for biological studies. The determination of the iron affinity of different petrobactin derivatives showed that functionalization at the central amino group of the spermidine sidechain has only a minor influence on the iron binding properties of the siderophore. Accordingly, such derivatives are promising starting points for the development of biological probes to study bacterial siderophore transport, a possible new target for antibiotics. The determination of the FeIII binding affinity (pFeIII) for various sidechain-modified petrobactins proved that a modification of the central spermidine amino group has only a minor influence on complex formation. Accordingly, such siderophore derivatives are promising starting points for the development of tools for the study of iron homeostasis in bacteria. Copyright
