DETERMINATION OF DOUBLE BOND POSITION IN MONO-UNSATURATED ACETATES BY MASS SPECTROMETRY OF DIMETHYL DISULFIDE ADDUCTS.

, p. 818 - 822 (1983)
The dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) adducts of mono-unsaturated acetates were used to locate the position of the double bond. Forty-seven model compounds (decenyl to octdecenyl acetates) in nanogram quantities were reacted with DMDS and the derivatives analyzed by high-resolution gas chromatography and electron impact mass spectrometry. The procedure is applied in the identification of mono-unsaturated acetates in pheromone extracts of two moth species.
