Subtle reactivity patterns of non-heteroatom-substituted manganese alkynyl carbene complexes in the presence of phosphorus probes

The non-heteroatom-substituted manganese alkynyl carbene complexes were synthesized in high yields upon treatment of the corresponding carbyne complexes with the appropriate alkynllithium reagents. The X-ray structure of these complexes was also reported. The possibility of inducing remote activation of the carbene function upon coordination of an ancillary metal fragment to the alkyne function was assessed. The reaction of cationic group 7 cabyne complexes with nucleophiles has been shown to constitute a particularly versatile route to carbene complexes, including non-heteratom sinstituted-ones.
