REACTIONS OF 5-SUBSTITUTED PENTACHLOROCYCLOPENTADIENES WITH METHOXIDE ION AND MORPHOLINE

The reaction of 5-substituted pentachlorocyclopentadienes with methoxide ion and morpholine were studied.It was shown that the reactions with these nucleophiles can lead to products formed as a result of nucleophilic substitution of chlorine, reaction of the nucleophile with the substituent at position 5, or both processes simultaneously.The benzyl derivatives undergo rearrangements, the mechanism of which is discussed.
