The title compound, C10H9Cl2N3O 2·2H2O, exists in the zwitterionic form as a result of proton transfer from the carboxylic acid group to the bridging nitrogen. The imidazolidine ring adopts a half-chair conformation. The dihedral angle between the imidazolidine and phenyl rings is 67.29 (6)°, and the carboxyl group is twisted by 5.4 (1)° from the phenyl ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by a network of hydrogen bonds involving the two water molecules.
