3,5-Dichloro-4-(imidazolidin-2-ylidene-ammonio)benzoate dihydrate

The title compound, C₁₀H₉Cl₂N₃O ₂·2H₂O, exists in the zwitterionic form as a result of proton transfer from the carboxylic acid group to the bridging nitrogen. The imidazolidine ring adopts a half-chair conformation. The dihedral angle between the imidazolidine and phenyl rings is 67.29 (6)°, and the carboxyl group is twisted by 5.4 (1)° from the phenyl ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by a network of hydrogen bonds involving the two water molecules.
