Novel 3,5-disubstituted ring E analogs of methyllycaconitine were prepared and evaluated in nicotinic acetylcholine receptor binding assays. The desired analogs were prepared through the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction of methyl 5-bromo-nicotinate.
