General Description
2,3-dihydro-6-methoxy-1H-Indene-1-acetamide, also known as omacetaxine mepesuccinate, is a semi-synthetic alkaloid derived from the cephalotaxine alkaloids found in the plant Cephalotaxus species. It is used as a medication for the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) that is resistant to other treatments. Omacetaxine mepesuccinate works by inhibiting protein synthesis in cancer cells and inducing apoptosis, or cell death. It is administered via subcutaneous injection, and common side effects include fatigue, nausea, and diarrhea.
