  • or
Aluminum hydrodiphenyl, also known as diphenylaluminum hydride or phenylaluminum hydride, is a chemical compound with the formula (C6H5)2AlH. It is a colorless, pyrophoric solid that is highly reactive and sensitive to air and moisture. This organoaluminum compound is primarily used as a reducing agent in organic synthesis, particularly in the reduction of carbonyl compounds to form alcohols. Due to its high reactivity, it is essential to handle aluminum hydrodiphenyl with extreme caution, typically under an inert atmosphere or in a glovebox.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 880-08-0 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 8,8 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 880-08:
(5*8)+(4*8)+(3*0)+(2*0)+(1*8)=80
80 % 10 = 0
So 880-08-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Molecular structures of dimeric and trimeric dineopentylaluminum hydride and trimeric diphenylaluminum hydride

Uhl, Werner,Appelt, Christian,Backs, Jana,Kloecker, Hans,Vinogradov, Andrej,Westenberg, Hauke

, p. 106 - 109 (2014)

The synthesis of dineopentylaluminum hydride, H-Al(CH2CMe 3)2, is known in the literature since 1988. We determined the crystal structure of this important starting material and found different ring sizes with dimeric versus trimeric formula units. The molecular shape depends on the polarity of the solvent used for recrystallization (n-pentane or 1,2-difluorobenzene). The synthesis of diphenylaluminum hydride, which is also long known in the literature, was optimized. It has a trimeric structure in the solid state with an Al3H3 heterocycle.

Redistribution Reactions Involving Lithium Aluminium Hydride and Lithium Tetraphenylaluminate

Ashby, E. C.,Goel, A. B.

, p. 134 - 138 (2007/10/02)

Redistribution reactions involving LiAlH4 and LiAlPh4 were performed by mixing the reagents in appropriate ratios. The products: LiAlH3Ph, LiAlH2Ph2 and LiAlHPh3 were isolated and characterised by elemental analysis, infrared and nmr spectroscopy and DTA-TGA analysis. These products were also prepared by the reaction of PhLi with AlHnPh3-n (where n=1-3) in diethylether. Also PhAlH2 and Ph2AlH were prepared by the reaction of Ph3Al and AlH3 in both diethyl ether and THF in the appropriate stoichiometric ratios.
