Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 89434-87-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,9,4,3 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 89434-87:
(7*8)+(6*9)+(5*4)+(4*3)+(3*4)+(2*8)+(1*7)=177
177 % 10 = 7
So 89434-87-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Kinetics of phthalate reactions with ammonium hydroxide in aqueous matrix

Patnaik, Pradyot,Yang, Min,Powers, Evelyn

, p. 1587 - 1591 (2001)

Common phthalate pollutants, such as dimethyl phthalate and diethyl phthalate found in aqueous environmental matrices react with ammonium hydroxide at ordinary temperatures exhibiting an overall reaction order in the range 1.3-1.4. While the reaction is of first order with respect to the phthalate, the order of reaction is fractional in ammonium hydroxide. The rate constants for the reactions of these two phthalates in alkaline waters at ambient temperatures are in the range 1.3×10-4 and 8.5×10-5Lx/mols. Under these conditions the estimated half-lives for dimethyl phthalate and diethyl phthalate at a concentration of each at 20mg/L is 4.5 and 14h, respectively. Other phthalates are expected to exhibit similar kinetics in their base hydrolysis with NH4OH. Thus, the presence of both the phthalate esters and ammonia or ammonium salts in the water under alkaline conditions may result in their self-removal by hydrolysis. Copyright

PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF PHTHALIMIDES

-

Page/Page column 9, (2015/07/07)

The invention relates to a process to produce phthalimides by heating diammonium phthalate in the presence of aromatic solvents and to a process to produce phthalimides by heating diammonium phthalate in the presence of aromatic solvents for their recycled use during the ion exchanger production process. The diammonium phthalate is prepared by making use of the phthalic acid salts solution resulted from the ion exchanger production process.
