A Mannich-like zinc-mediated three-component reaction of aromatic halides, amines, and paraformaldehyde is described. The authors have prepared some benzylamine derivatives and established a structure-antidysrhythmic activity relationship. Most of the compounds exhibited significant activity. One also showed interesting anticalcium activity.
