Niobium(V) and Tantalum(V) Complexes of Monobasic Bidentate Fluoroimines

The reactions of monobasic bidentate fluoroimines such as N-(p-fluorophenyl)salicylaldimine, N-(p-fluorophenyl)-2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldimine and N-(p-fluorophenyl)-2-hydroxyacetophenoneimine with niobium and tantalum pentaisopropoxides in the molar ratios of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 have yielded complexes of the type M(OPri)5-n(SB)n .These coloured solids have been characterised by elemental analyses, molecular weight determination, molar conductances and IR and PMR spectral data.
