The N,N-disubstituted hydrazones of 3-hydroxybenzothiophene-2-carbaldehyde were synthesyzed.The structure and the tautomeric transformations of these compounds were studied by electronic and vibrational spectroscopy and x-ray crystallographic analysis.The existence of hydroxyhydrazone-ketohydrazine tautomerism was established.The position of the tautomeric equilibrium depends largely on the type of substituents in the hydrazone fragment and on the medium.E,Z-Izomerization was detected in solutions of the N,N-dialkylhydrazones.Crystals of the two tautomeric forms were isolated.
