A convenient synthetic route to sulfonimidamides from sulfonamides

Sulfonimidamides were prepared in a one-pot transformation from sulfonamides, through nucleophilic substitution of sulfonimidoyl chlorides formed in situ with different amines. This methodology represents a convenient, safe, and easily accessible synthetic route to sulfonimidamides.

N1,N1-Dialkyl-N2-chloroarenesulfonimidamides were obtained by the reaction of N1,N1-dialkylarenesulfonimidamides with tert-butyl hypochlorite or N,N-dichlorobenzenesulfonamide.With triphenylphosphine or dimethyl sulfide they form onium salts.In dimethylsulfonium chlorides, which contain a chiral sulfur atom, the methyl groups of the dimethylsulfonium group are diastereotopic.
