PARATOCARPINS F-L, SEVEN NEW ISOPRENOID-SUBSTITUTED FLAVONOIDS FROM PARATOCARPUS VENENOSA ZOLL

Two new isoprenoid substituted chalcones, paratocarpins F(1) and G(2), along with five new isoprenoid substituted flavanones, partocarpins H(3), I(4), J(5), K(6), and L(7), were isolated from the Indonesian moraceous plant, Paratocarpus (= Artocarpus) venenosa Zoll.The structures of paratocarpins F, G, H, I, J, K, and L were shown to be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, respectively, on the basis of spectroscopis and chemical evidence.

The reaction of 2-methyl-but-3-en-2-ol with 5,7,4'-trihydroxy-3'-prenylflavanone (III) gives 5,7,4'-trihydroxy-3,6-diprenylflavanone (IV)(euchrestaflavanone-A), its monochroman (V) and a dichroman (VI).The flavanone III in turn has been prepared by the condensation of 6-hydroxy-2,4-dimethoxymethoxyacetophenone and 4-methoxymethoxy-3-prenylbanzaldehyde followed by cyclization and demethoxymethylation.
