Addition of CNR (R = Ph or p-tolyl) to solutions of cis-ClO4 leads to cis-ClO4, which reacts (a) with NHPhNHPh to give the cationic complexes (C6F5)2>ClO4, which readily undergo deprotonation to form (C6F5)2>, and (b) with NH2NHR' (R' H or Ph) to give (C6F5)2>.The structure of (C6F5)2> has been determined by X-ray diffraction 1/c, with a = 12.230(2), b = 20.276(3), c = 13.123(2) Angstroem, β = 101.21(2)deg, R = 0.036 for 5 822 reflections>.
