The arylhydrazides of α-chlorodialkylacetic acids, isolated in the form of complexes with phenol, are formed in the reaction of the arylhydrazides of dialkylglycolic acids with phosphorus pentachloride. With alcohols and alkanethiols they form the arylhydrazides of alkoxy- and alkylthiodialkylacetic acids, and with substituted anilines they form the arylhydrazides of arylaminodialkylacetic acids.
