A versatile copper-catalyzed [3 + 1 + 1] annulation of oximes and isocyanates with AgNO3 is described. In this conversion, AgNO3 and isocyanates instead of conventional azide or diazonium reagents were used as the nitrogen source. This three-component transformation was achieved by cleaving N-O/C-H/C-N bonds and building CN/N-N bonds, which provides a strategy to prepare N-2-aryl-1,2,3-triazoles with a good substrate and functional compatibility.

A diastereoselective copper and NHC-ligand-catalyzed three-component difunctionalization of allenes with bis(pinacolato)diboron and 2H-azirines to afford borylated allylaziridines is described. The reaction exhibits complete diastereoselectivity and good yields, and the further chlorination of the corresponding borylated products was also performed. It is believed that the high ring-strain force of 2H-azirines facilitates the reaction. More chemical transformations of borylated allylaziridines are also reported.

Chiral RhIII catalysts can catalyze the asymmetric [4+1] spiroannulation of O-pivaloyl oximes with α-diazo homophthalimides under redox-neutral and acid/base-neutral conditions, leading to formation of chiral spirocyclic imines as a result of C-H activation and N-O cleavage. The reaction proceeded with high efficiency and features broad substrate scope, mild reaction conditions, and high to excellent enantioselectivities. This journal is

Oximes are valuable synthetic intermediates for the preparation of a variety of functional groups. To date, the stereoselective synthesis of oximes remains a major challenge, as most current synthetic methods either provide mixtures of E and Z isomers or furnish the thermodynamically preferred E isomer. Herein we report a mild and general method to achieve Z isomers of aryl oximes by photoisomerization of oximes via visible-light-mediated energy transfer (EnT) catalysis. Facile access to (Z)-oximes provides opportunities to achieve regio- and chemoselectivity complementary to those of widely used transformations employing oxime starting materials. We show an enhanced one-pot protocol for photocatalyzed oxime isomerization and subsequent Beckmann rearrangement that enables novel reactivity with alkyl groups migrating preferentially over aryl groups, reversing the regioselectivity of the traditional Beckmann reaction. Chemodivergent N- or O- cyclizations of alkenyl oximes are also demonstrated, leading to nitrones or cyclic oxime ethers, respectively.

One-pot syntheses of 1-benzyl-, 1-Alkoxyl-, and 1-Alkylamino-isoquinolines through automatic directing group (DGauto)-Assisted, rhodium(III)-catalyzed aryl C-H activation and annulation with internal alkynes were developed. The reactions affording 1-benzylisoquinolines involve a cascade oximation of diarylacetylenes with hydroxylamine, forming aryl benzyl ketone oxime, and oxime-Assisted rhodium(III)-catalyzed aryl C-H activation and followed annulation with another molecule of diarylacetylene in a one-pot manner. The formation of 1-Alkoxyl/amino isoquinolines includes the addition of nucleophilic alcohols or amines to aryl nitriles, imine-Assisted rhodium-catalyzed aryl C-H activation, and subsequent alkyne annulation.
