2-Alkyl- and 2-aryl-substituted hydrazides and also hydrazobenzene react with methyl vinyl ketone to form the corresponding β-hydrazino ketones, which are not susceptible to conversion into cyclic 5-hydroxypyrazolidine form.The majority of the synthesized compounds in solutions form mixtures of stereoisomers on account of restricted "amide" rotation in the hydrazide fragment.
