The complexes C5H5Co(PR3)2 (PR3 = PMe3, PMe2Ph) and C5H5Rh(C2H4)PMe3 react with SCPh2 by displacement of PR3 and C2H4 to give the compounds C5H5M(SCPh2)PR3 (1-3), in which the thiobenzophenone molecule is coordinated via the sulfur atom to the metal. The reactions of C5H5Co(PMe3)2 and C5H5Rh(C2H4)PMe3 with cyclohexanethione yield the compounds C5H5M(PMe3)S2C6H10 (4,5) which contain a dithiolate ligand. The complexes C5H5CoPMe3 (7,8) are obtained from C5H5Co(PMe3)2 and the thiocarbonic esters SC(XPh)2 (X = O,Ph).Also in 7,8 the S=C unit is only linked via S to the metal.Methylation of 7 (X = O) with CF3SO3CH3 leads by CH3 addition to sulfur and concomitant formation of a Co-C bond to 2-S(CH3)C(OPh)2)PMe3>PF6 (9).In the reaction of 7 with CF3SO3H, however, phenol is eliminated and the complex 2-SCOPh)PMe3>CF3SO3 (10)is formed. 10 reacts with CNMe by cleavage of the C-S bond to yield CF3SO3 (11).
