PHOTOCHEMICAL REACTION OF DIRHENIUM DECACARBONYL WITH TRIPHENYL PHOSPHITE
Young, C. S.,Lee, S. W.,Cheng, C. P.
, p. 85 - 94 (1985)
The photochamical carbonyl substitution reaction of Re2(CO)10 with P(OPh)3 was studied under vacuum.Using mass, 31P NMR and IR spectroscopic data, four well-characterized new products, in addition to a mononuclear hydride mer-HRe(CO)32; were obtained: 1-ax-2',4'-di-eq-Re2(CO)73; 1,1'-di-ax-2,2'-di-eq-Re2(CO)64; 2,2',4,4'-tetra-eq-Re2(CO)64 and 1,1'-di-ax-2,2'-di-eq-2,2',4,4'-tetra-eq-Re2(CO)46.The isolated highly substituted metal carbonyl products are the isomers with favorable steric repulsive interactions among the triphenyl phosphite ligands.
Synthesis and thermolysis of neutral metal formyl complexes of molybdenum, tungsten, manganese, and rhenium

, p. 498 - 505 (2008/10/08)
The possible intermediacy of catalyst-bound formyls in syngas transformations has prompted efforts to prepare and study the chemistry of transition-metal formyl complexes over more than a decade. We have used a mild borohydride in our reactions with metal carbonyl cations and have introduced some variations into the syntheses which allow, in almost all cases, for the pure formyl complex to be precipitated from solution as it is formed. The formyl complexes and their cationic precursors are shown. Seven of the formyls are new; improved procedures have been established for the other four. All but one of the compounds have been isolated.
Formylrhenium Complexes

, p. 559 - 564 (2007/10/02)
The synthesis of cationic phosphite-substituted compounds BF4, n = 4, L = P(OEt)3 (2a), L = P(OPh)3 (2c); n = 3, L = P(OEt)3 (2b), L = P(OPh)3 (2d); is described.With boron hydride reagents these complexes are transformed into formyl compounds (OC)nL5-nReCHO, n = 3, L = P(OEt)3 (3a), L = P(OPh)3 (3c), n = 2, L = P(OEt)3 (3b), L = P(OPh)3 (3d,e).The reactions of lithium dimethylcuprate with 2a and 2b affords the corresponding acetyl derivatives (OC)n5-nReCOCH3, n = 3 (4a), n = 2 (4b).The structure of 3b is confirmed by an X-ray investigation.
