5α-aryloxyethyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-thiones (I) synthesized by the reaction of α-aryloxypropionylhydrazine with carbon disulfide in the presence of alkali, have been condensed with different aldehydes and diamines to yield bis-Mannich bases.Twenty new compounds have been evaluated for their antifungal activity againts Aspergillus flavus, Helminthosporium oryzae and Cephalosporium sacchari.Based on the screening data, possible structure-activity relationships are discussed.
