The polarographic reduction data of 4-arylazo-1-ethylmercapto-3-(4H)isoquinolone derivatives in 50 percent by volume ethanolic aqueous buffered media are reported and discussed.These compounds exist in several tautomeric forms so their structures have been investigated using ir and polarographic analyses.The data obtained indicated that these compounds in aqueous media and in solid state exist predominantly in the azo form.A mechanism interpreting the electrode process is proposed and confirmed via the identification of CPE products and Hammett's ?-E relations.
