General Description
[3S,3aα,7aα,(-)]-3a,6,7,7a-Tetrahydro-6β-hydroxy-3α-[(benzoyloxy)methyl]-6-methylbenzofuran-2,5(3H,4H)-dione, also known as rapamycin, is a naturally occurring compound produced by the bacterium Streptomyces hygroscopicus. It has immunosuppressant and antiproliferative properties, making it useful in the treatment of various medical conditions such as organ transplant rejection, certain types of cancer, and autoimmune diseases. Rapamycin works by inhibiting the activity of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), a protein kinase that regulates cell growth, proliferation, and survival. It is also being studied for its potential anti-aging effects and its ability to extend lifespan in various organisms. Additionally, rapamycin has shown potential in treating other conditions such as neurodegenerative diseases and metabolic disorders.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 98751-77-0 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 9,8,7,5 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 98751-77:
(7*9)+(6*8)+(5*7)+(4*5)+(3*1)+(2*7)+(1*7)=190
190 % 10 = 0
So 98751-77-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Enantiospecific Synthesis of (+)-Paeonilactone C and (+)-Paeoniflorigenone from R-(-)-Carvone
Hatakeyama, Susumi,Kawamura, Mitsuhiro,Takano, Seiichi,Irie, Hiroshi
, p. 7993 - 7996 (2007/10/02)
The first total syntheses of (+)-paeonilactone C and (+)-paeoniflorigenone, representative monoterpenes of Paeoniae Radix, have been accomplished starting with R-(-)-carvone via lipase catalyzed highly diastereoselective enzymatic acetylation. The latter synthesis also means the first total synthesis of (+)-paeonisuffral, a new monoterpene recently isolated from Moutan Cortex.
