general description	a colorless odorless gas. insoluble in water and has a high thermal stability. its vapors are heavier than air. under prolonged exposure to fire or intense heat the containers may rupture violently and rocket. contact with the unconfined liquid can cause frostbite. used as a refrigerant.
air & water reactions	highly flammable. insoluble in water. easily ignited by heat, sparks or flames. forms explosive mixtures with air
reactivity profile	difluoromethane can react with some metals to form dangerous products. may react violently with aluminum. incompatible with strong oxidizing and reducing agents. also incompatible with many amines, nitrides, azo/diazo compounds, alkali metals, and epoxides.
health hazard	vapors may cause dizziness or asphyxiation without warning. some may be irritating if inhaled at high concentrations. contact with gas or liquefied gas may cause burns, severe injury and/or frostbite. fire may produce irritating and/or toxic gases.
