general description	clear, oily, pale-yellow liquid with a faint odor. a mixture of numerous compounds and isomers depending on the degree and conditions of hydrogenation the 40% hydrogenated mixture has bp: 340°c, density: 1.00 g cm-3, and is insoluble in water. used as a plasticizer and as a heat-transfer medium. can be absorbed through the skin and by ingestion.
reactivity profile	terphenyl, hydrogenated are non-flammable (flash-point 157°c for 40% hydrogenated mixture), but combustible. resist decomposition but break down to produce acrid smoke when heated sufficiently. incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
