Basic Blue 26 Specification

The Victoria Blue B, with the CAS registry number 2580-56-5 and EINECS registry number 219-943-6, has the systematic name of N-(4-{[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl][4-(phenylamino)naphthalen-1-yl]methylidene}cyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-ylidene)-N-methylmethanaminium chloride. It is a kind of deep purple powder, and soluble in hot water. And the molecular formula of this chemical is C33H32ClN3.

The physical properties of Victoria Blue B are as following: (1)#H bond acceptors: 3; (2)#H bond donors: 1; (3)#Freely Rotating Bonds: 5; (4)Polar Surface Area: 18.28 Å2.

Preparations of Victoria Blue B: It can start with the condensation of benzophenone, 4,4'-bis(dimethylamino) and N-phenyl-1-naphthylamine in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride. And after a series of hydrolyzation, purification, salting out, drying and pulverization, the product is obtained.

Uses of Victoria Blue B: It can used in the pigmentation of silk, wool, linen and tannin mordanting cotton fibre. It is also used in the pigmentation of stencil paper for type-writing, carbon paper and plain paper. What's more, it is also used in the preparation of color lake.
