  • Eight Standards of Environmental Protection in Children's Room
  • The growth of children can be affected by many hidden factors, such as environmental pollution. When parents decorate the room for their children, they should pay attention to the decorative materials, temperature, humidity and many other elements which can affect the physical health of children. Generally speaking, 8 standards of indoor decoration must be followed so as to prevent the hidden harms.

First, the density of dioxide must be less than 0.1%. The content of carbon dioxide is an indirect index to judge the indoor air. The increasing density of carbon dioxide can make children become dizzy and uncomfortable.

Second, the content of should be less than 5 milligrams per cubic meter. Carbon monoxide is the most common toxic gas inside the room. It can seriously destroy the nerve cells and restrain the normal growth of children.

Third, the number of bacteria should be less than 10 per cubic meter. Children are still at a growing stage and they do not have strong immunity. It is necessary for parents to conduct strict sterilization in children’s room.

Fourth, the indoor temperature should be adjusted between 18 degrees centigrade and 28 degrees centigrade. The ability of adjusting the body temperature of children is relatively poor. It is important to adjust the indoor temperature for children to acclimatize themselves to the indoor environment.

Fifth, the indoor relative humidity should be maintained between 40% and 65%. The low humidity can hurt the respiratory tract of children and the high humidity can restrain the evaporation of perspiration to make children become uncomfortable.

Sixth, the speed of air flow inside the room must be moderate. Under the premise of normal ventilation, the air flow should be less than 0.3 meter per second. The too rapid air flow can force children to feel cold.

Seventh, the indoor lighting should be moderate. When children are reading and writing, the light inside the room should be well-distributed. The light should not be too weak or too strong.

Eighth, the indoor noise should be controlled below 50 decibels. The noise can greatly affect the brain activities of children. It can not only disturb the attention, but also make children become nervous.

Except the eight standards mentioned above, the content of formaldehyde released by the decorative materials and furniture and the density of radon should also be controlled within limits. After people decorate the house, they can ask the relevant sector to check the various indexes so as to prevent serious harms completely.
