Nickelous acetate Specification

The CAS registry number of Nickel(II) acetate (1:2) is 373-02-4. With the EINECS registry number 239-086-1, its IUPAC name is nickel(2+) diacetate. It is an inorganic compound of nickel and acetic acid. What's more, it is a dull green odorless solid which soluble in water. It is used for electroplating. Besides, this inorganic compound is usually found as the tetrahydrate.

Preparation of Nickel(II) acetate (1:2): At first, add Ni(NO3)2·6H2O into acetic anhydride. Then heat the mixture until fierce reaction. After the reaction, via a series of cooling, washing by ethanoic anhydride and ethyl ether, vacuum drying in 80-90 °C you can get the desired product. The equation is as follows: Ni(NO3)2·6H2O+6(CH3CO)2O→Ni(CH3COO)2+2NO2+12O2+10CH3COOH+H2O.
