The IUPAC name of Sodium tripolyphosphate is pentasodium [oxido(phosphonatooxy)phosphoryl] phosphate. Sodium tripolyphosphate can be prepared by heating a stoichiometric mixture of Disodium phosphate, and Monosodium phosphate under carefully controlled conditions:
2 Na2HPO4 + NaH2PO4 → Na5P3O10 + 2 H2O

Uses of Sodium tripolyphosphate:
Sodium tripolyphosphate is used as a highly charged chelating agent in commercial detergents. It is also used as a preservative for seafood, meats, poultry, and animal feeds. Moreover, it can be used as synthetic tanning agent in leather. And it is used in ceramics. It can also be used for anticaking and setting retarders. Moreover, it is used as flame retardants and anticorrosion pigments. The produce can be used in paper, textiles, rubber manufacture. Furthermore, it can be used for fermentation and as an antifreeze.
