Na metabisulfite (II) [7681-57-4]-FeCl2 [7758-94-3] mixt., resp., into two 2L continuously stirred tank reactors in series at 95.degree.. The stream compns. are, resp.: :.6:0.75 styrene-Me methacrylate-2-ethylhexyl acrylate-dodecanethiol-divinylbenzene; 1% aq. I; and an aq. soln. contg. 0.5% II and 250 ppm FeCl2. The 3 streams are pumped continuously and the polymer [57172-28-8] latex is withdrawn to keep a const. vol. in the reactors. After 5 to 8 residence times the polymer is isolated from its latex.
