GB 2016502 26 Sep 1979, 4 pp. (English). (United Kingdom). CODEN: BAXXDU. CLASS: IC: C09B047-08. APPLICATION: GB 78-7784 28 Feb 1978. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 40 (Dyes, Fluorescent Whitening Agents, and Photosensitizers) Metal phthalocyanine azo derivs. (I; Z = Cu, Co, Fe, Ni, Mn, Mg, Ba, Sn, Ca, or Zn phthalocyanine; Z1 = arom. or heterocyclic ring; R = alkyl or aryl ballasting group; n = 1-4) were prepd. by coupling the appropriate naphthyl deriv. and diazotized amino phthalocyanine deriv. Thus, 0.9 g Z[SO2NH(CH2)2NMe2]2 (Z = Cu phthalocyanine) [73123-05-4] was refluxed 4 h with 0.4 g O2NC6H4CH2Cl-p [100-14-1] in 50 mL DMF. The residue was added to a stirred soln. of 2.0 g SnCl2.2H2O in 50 mL EtO(CH2)2OH and 3 mL concd. HCl and reduced 20 h. The blue solid was filtered, washed sequentially with dil. HCl, H2O, and dil. aq. NH3, dispersed in 50 mL EtO(CH2)2OH contg. 3 mL H2O and 0.06 g NaNO2, and cooled to 0-2°. The mixt. was treated with 1 mL HCl and added to a stirred soln. of 0.4 g N-[4-(2,4-di-tert-amylphenoxy)butyl]-1-hydroxy-2-naphthamide [32180-75-9] and 2.0 g KOAc in 50 mL EtO(CH2)2OH at 0-2°. The green product I (Z = Cu phthalocyanine; Z1 = p-C6H4; R = II) [73123-06-5] was obtained after 2 h by pptn. in H2O.

- Evidence for a membrane sulfhydryl associated with resistance to melphalan in a murine L1210 leukemia line. Fisher, J. M.; Naujokaitis, A. S.; Uehara, Y.; Rabinovitz, M. (Lab. Med. Chem. Pharmacol., Natl. Cancer Inst., Bethesda, MD 20205, USA). Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun., 117(3), 670-6 (English) 1983. CODEN: BBRCA9. ISSN: 0006-291X. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Murine L1210 leukemia cells, which display sensitivity or resistance to the chemotherapeutic alkylating agent, melphalan [148-82-3], are equiv. sensitive or resistant to the poorly permeable mercurial, p-chloromercuribenzenesulfonate [554-77-8]. Cells of both lines do not differ in sensitivity to the sulfhydryl reagents, N-ethylmaleimide [128-53-0], iodoacetamide [144-48-9], and iodoacetate [64-69-7] or to the glutathione transferase substrates 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene [97-00-7] and p-nitrobenzyl chloride [100-14-1]. The results are interpreted in terms of the known biol. reactivity of p-chloromercuribenzenesulfonate as a selective reagent for sulfhydryl groups of membrane proteins assocd. with monovalent cation permeability.
