Revista de Agricultura (Piracicaba, Brazil), 79(1), 97-105 (Portuguese) 2004 Revista de Agricultura. CODEN: RAPCAW. ISSN: 0034-7655. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Section cross-reference(s): 5 The harmful effects of some pesticides, used in the control on soybean insect pests, were evaluated on the predator insects in six field expts. The following pesticides, at a.i. 83121-18-0 and 103055-07-8 are cas registry numbers. These chemicals are also mentioned in this article. ha-1 dose were tested: 1) chitin disruptive group: Triflumuron (7.2 g and 14.4 g), Methoxyfenozide (21.6 g), Diflubenzuron (7.5 g and 15 g), Teflubenzuron (7.5 g), Flufenoxuron (10 g), Novaluron (5 g, 7.5 g, 10 g, 15 g and 20 g) and Lufenuron (7.5 g and 15 g); 2) phosphorous compd. group: Chlorpyriphos (112.5 g), Methyl parathion (67.5 g, 90 g and 112.5 g), Acephate (75 g, 112.5 g and 150 g), Malathion (100 g, 150 g and 200 g ) and Metamidophos (150 g); 3) pyrethroid group: Betacyfluthrin (2.5 g and 4.0 g), Alphacypermethrin (12 g) and Lambda-cyhalothrin (3.75 g); 4) misc. group: Endosulfan (87.5 g and 140 g), Thiodicarb (56 g and 80 g) and Thiacloprid (96 g). The predator population were evaluated before and 4/5 opportunities after the pesticide application, with ground cloth method. The pesticides presented high harmful effect for four days and ten days after the insecticide spraying, the natural enemy population was increased. The phosphorous compds. presented the biggest neg. effects on predator population. The chitin disruptive group presented low impact (<20% of mortality) on the natural enemies of soybean insect pests. .
- Use of injectable lufenuron for treatment of infestations of Ctenocephalides felis in cats
- Use of injectable lufenuron for treatment of infestations of Ctenocephalides felis in cats. Franc, Michel; Cadiergues, Marie-Christine (Dermatology-Parasitology Unit, Ecole Veterinaire Toulouse, Toulouse 31076, Fr.). American Journal of Veterinary Research, 58(2), 140-142 (English) 1997 American Veterinary Medical Association. CODEN: AJVRAH. ISSN: 0002-9645. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Our objective was to det. whether and for how long a single dose of a new injectable formulation of lufenuron would successfully control exptl. induced Ctenocephalides felis infestations in cats. Each group of cats was housed in a sep. room. Each cat was infested with 150 fleas, counts were checked weekly.Several reagents such as 103055-07-8 is used here. Once flea populations had stabilized, cats were treated with lufenuron at a dosage of 5 mg/kg of body wt., SC (group 1) or 10 mg/kg, SC (group 2). Group-3 cats were not treated. Flea counts were checked weekly for 18 wk, and effectiveness was detd. by comparing flea counts for treated cats with flea counts for control cats. Cats were reinfested with fleas during weeks 19, 26, 36, and 49, and flea counts were again detd. weekly. Effectiveness for both dosages of lufenuron was > 90% by 5 wk after treatment, >95% by 9 wk after treatment, and >98% by 13 wk after treatment. Reinfestations performed during weeks 19 and 26 were well controlled (ie, >90% redn. in flea counts, compared with control group) in both groups of cats treated with lufenuron. Reinfestations performed during week 36 were well controlled only in cats treated with lufenuron at the higher dosage. Reinfestations performed during week 49 were not controlled in either group of treated cats. A single dose of the new injectable formulation of lufenuron should control flea populations in cats for up to 26 wk, even among cats that are periodically reinfested with fleas. .
