However, S-1 has been reported to be effective. The authors examd. the pharmacokinetics of S-1 in 14 patients who had gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination. S-1 was given from the morning of the day before surgery to the morning of surgery. Concns. of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and gimeracil (CDHP) were measured in the serum, ascites, disseminated peritoneal nodes, and normal peritoneum. There was a strong correlation between 5-FU and CDHP concns. in peritoneal tissues. The concns. 103766-25-2 and 51-21-8 which are cas registry numbers of chemicals are mentioned. of 5-FU and CDHP in the serum were similar to those in ascites. The concn. of 5-FU was significantly higher in disseminated nodes than in the normal peritoneum. After administration of S-1 to gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination, 5-FU and CDHP in the serum linearly pass through the peritoneum and enter the ascites. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) The efficacy of S-1 as a new oral antitumor agent in ovarian cancer-bearing nude rats was investigated. This drug consists of tegafur, 5-chloro-2,4-dihydroxypyridine, and oxonic acid in a molar ratio of 1:0.4:1. S-1 was given alone or in combination with cisplatin. When administered alone at a daily dose of 20 mg/ kg, S-1 produced a significant inhibition of tumor growth [inhibition rate (IR) 89%] in the treated vs. 103766-25-2 and 937-13-3 are also in the experiment. the control animals. The effects of S-1 resembled those of cisplatin-treated groups. The consecutive daily administration of S- 1, 20 mg/kg, combined with cisplatin, 1 mg/kg, markedly inhibited cell growth (IR 99%), a significant difference relative to cisplatin alone. The daily administration of S-1 combined with low-dose cisplatin induced tumor regression with a low toxicity. .
