- Year and age effects on residues of dieldrin and heptachlor in dead gray bats, Franklin County, Missouri - 1976, 1977, and 1978. Clark, Donald R., Jr.; Bunck, Christine M.; Cromartie, Eugene; LaVal, Richard K. (Patuxent Wildlife Res. Cent., U. S. Dep. Interior, Laurel, MD 20708, USA). Environ. Toxicol. Chem., 2(4), 387-93 (English) 1983. CODEN: ETOCDK. ISSN: 0730-7268. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 4 (Toxicology) Dead gray bats (Myotis grisescens) contg. lethal concns. of dieldrin (I) [60-57-1] were found beneath a maternity roost in Bat Cave Nos. 2 and 3, Franklin County, Missouri, in 1976, 1977, and 1978. Whereas residues of I, DDE [72-55-9], and PCB in bats appeared not to change significantly over the 3 yr, residues of heptachlor (II) [76-44-8]-related chems. increased in 1977 to potentially dangerous concns. and remained elevated in 1978. Lethal brain levels of I in adult bats (geometric mean = 12.1 mg/g), compared with juvenile bats (geometric mean = 6.5 mg/g), indicated the juveniles are nearly twice as sensitive. The estd. population of gray bats (as max. 13194-48-4 and 92-52-4 which are cas registry numbers of substances are two of reagents here. no. of nonflying young) at Bat Cave Nos. 2 and 3 in 1976 and 1978 was 1800 bats; but, in 1979, no bats were present. I, perhaps in conjunction with II, may have caused the decline and disappearance of this colony. However, I was banned in 1974 and Missouri's authorization to use II on corn expired in 1981. Furthermore, 3 organophosphate insecticides (chlorpyrifos [2921-88-2], dyfonate [944-22-9], and mocap [13194-48-4]) are to be substituted. .

(Fac. Med.Several reagents with their cas registry numbers 1563-66-2 and 13194-48-4 are used here., Univ. Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argent.). IRCS Med. Sci., 12(1), 41 (English) 1984. CODEN: IMSCE2. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) The effect of soil fumigation with Mocap [13194-48-4] 70EC or pretreatment of cultivated corn seeds with carbofuran [1563-66-2] 30TS or Orthene [30560-19-1] on tryptophan (Trp) [73-22-3], serotonine (HT) [50-67-9], g-aminobutyric acid (GABA) [56-12-2], glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) [9024-58-2], and acetylcholinesterase (AchE) [9000-81-1] of cephalic ganglion of D. adderus was examd. Carbofuran treatment markedly decreased GABA, Trp, GAD, and AchE, but increased HT in comparison to controls. Mocap and Orthene diminished AchE and Trp, but did not significantly affect GAD, GABA, or HT. .
