Kreis Gotha Tenneberg-Apotheke, Waltershausen, E. Ger.). Pharmazie, 32(2), 127 (German) 1977. CODEN: PHARAT. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Freshly powd. (.ltoreq.30 .mu.m particle diam.) oxytetracycline-HCl [2058-46-0], chloramphenicol [56-75-7], prednisolone [50-24-8], pilocarpine-HCl [54-71-7], physostigmine salicylate [57-64-7] and phenobarbital [50-06-6] stored at 20 and 40.degree. showed rapid increases in particle size over the 1st 3-6 months. Particle size then increased slowly or not at all. At 2-5.degree., little or no particle size increase was obsd. for any of the compds. except chloramphenicol, suggesting that most finely powd. substances should be stored at this low temp. The crystals doubled in size during the 1st 6 months after the storage temp. was increased from 20 to 40. 50-24-8 and 57-64-7 are just another two chemicals used in this study.degree., showing that a short term test was sufficient to indicate whether the substances can be stored at room temp. .

- Inactivation of tetracycline by magnesium sulfate in tests on microbial sowing by the membrane filtration method. Klimova, N. E.; Grigor'eva, V. M. (Res. Inst. Stand. Control Drugs, Moscow, USSR). Antibiotiki (Moscow), 22(2), 117-20 (Russian) 1977. CODEN: ANTBAL. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Residual amts. of tetracycline-HCl (I-HCl) [64-75-5], oxytetracycline-HCl [2058-46-0], and chlortetracycline-HCl [64-72-2] adsorbed on membrane filters were inactivated by addn. of 2 M MgSO4 soln. to the agar applied to the filters after filtration was completed. MgSO4 in this concn. did not affect the growth of Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, or Escherichia coli. Antibiotic inactivation increased the usefulness of the membrane filtration method for detg. microbiol. sowing in drug prepns.Except for chemicals metioned above, 7487-88-9 and 64-75-5 are also used. .
