CODEN: XNRNBT. DOCUMENT TYPE: Report CA Section: 16 (Fermentations) A research report on the reuse of NAD [53-84-9] in immobilized sorbitol dehydrogenase [9028-21-1] systems by also immobilizing alc. dehydrogenase [9031-72-5] in the same system and by use of an efficient cofactor sepn. system. By combining the redn. of CH3CHO to EtOH with the oxidn. of sorbitol [50-70-4] to fructose [57-48-7], a 99% yield of fructose is achieved with 10,000 mols product produced/mol NAD used. Enzyme recovery and return to the column input may permit cofactor productivity ratios to approach 106.
- Level of nicotinamide coenzymes in rat liver under conditions of nicotinamide administration
- Level of nicotinamide coenzymes in rat liver under conditions of nicotinamide administration. Mogilevich, S. E.; Velikii, N. N.; Parkhomets, P. K. (A. V. Palladin Inst. Biochem., Kiev, USSR). Ukr. Biokhim. Zh., 49(6), 39-43 (Ukrainian) 1977. CODEN: UBZHAZ. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Section cross-reference(s): 14 The effects of nicotinamide [98-92-0] administration on the contents of NAD [53-84-9], NADH [58-68-4], NADP [53-59-8], and NADPH [53-57-6] in the liver were studied in normal, fasting rats and in those on a low-carbohydrate diet with alloxan diabetes. Changes in the NAD content, sum of nicotinamide coenzymes, and the ([NAD] + [NADP])/([NADH] + [NADPH]) and ([NAD] + [NADH])/sum of nicotinamide coenzymes) ratios were mainly due to nicotinamide administration. Changes in the content of reduced forms of both nucleotides depended equally on nicotinamide administration and the physiol. state. Response of the rat to nicotinamide administration consisted of a sharp intensification of NAD synthesis and in less pronounced intensification of NADH, NADP and NADPH syntheses.
