The insecticides initially (for 7-45 days) inhibited oviposition, and later stimulated it. The insecticides increased potato yields from 24-270 to 116-302 quintals/ha.

[545-06-2]/ha the I derivs. residue in the 20-30 soil layer contained 15-20% p,p-DDD [72-54-8], 30-35% p,p-DDE [72-55-9], and 50% I [50-29-3]. The top 10 cm of the plot sprayed with 10 kg I/ha contained 65% I. I, II, and III residues and metabolites were mainly present in the top 20 cm. One year after the spraying, the II residues had disappeared and only traces of III were found. Three years after the spraying I had disappeared by 50-80%.
