FeSO4 and Na2SO4 was carried out in a two-chamber cell with a Pt/C gas diffusion electrode as cathode. The removal for color was 94.2% in cathode chamber and 73.3% in anode chamber. 5457-44-3 and 6259-76-3 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here. The removal for COD was 66.8% in cathode chamber and 56.6% in anode chamber. O2 was reduced to H2O2 and OH radical in the cathode chamber, oxidatively degrading Acid Red B. Twenty intermediates were detected in the cathode chamber by IR and gas chromatog.-mass spectroscopy, including 14 esters, 3 acids, and 3 compds. with -NO2 or N-OH groups. The probable degrdn. pathway of Acid Red B in the cathode chamber is given. .
