- Effects of trivalent phosphorus compounds on vinyl polymerizations. V. Effects of solvents and tetraethylammonium bromide on the anionic polymerization of acrylonitrile initiated by triethyl phosphite. Ogawa, Takeshi; Romero, Jaime (Dep. Quim., Univ. Autonoma Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Mexico). Eur. Polym. J., 13(5), 419-21 (English) 1977. CODEN: EUPJAG. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Synthetic High Polymers) In n-hexane, benzene, 1,4-dioxane, THF, MeCN, and DMF the initial rate of polymn. of CH2:CHCN [107-13-1] by (EtO)3P [122-52-1] increased but the d.p. decreased with increase in solvent polarity, except for hexane and DMF. Et4NBr [71-91-0] caused an increase in polymn. rate, which was attributed to exchange of countercation between Et4N+ and (EtO)3P+. Addn. of Et4NBr also decreased the order with respect to monomer for polymn. in MeCN. The polymn. in DMF was approx. 2nd order with respect to monomer, independently of the added ions.

- Tetraethylammonium-methohexitone-induced contractures and miniature end-plate potential discharge in the chick biventer cervicis muscle. Elliott, R. C. (Dep. Appl. Biol., Brunel Univ., Uxbridge UB8 3PH, UK). Gen. Pharmacol., 17(6), 655-9 (English) 1986. CODEN: GEPHDP. ISSN: 0306-3623. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacology) Section cross-reference(s): 13 End-plate potentials (EPP) and miniature end-plate potentials (MEPP) were recorded in the chick biventer cervicis muscle in vitro. The control frequency of discharge of MEPPs was 5.97 min-1. Methohexitone [151-83-7] (8.8 ′ 10-5 M) did not affect the frequency of MEPP discharge, but tetraethylammonium bromide (TEA) [71-91-0] (2.4-9.5 mM), reduced the frequency to 32.9% of the control. In the presence of neostigmine (3.3 ′ 10-6 M), methohexitone (8.8 ′ 10-5 M) reduced MEPP frequency to 38.7% of the control and TEA (2.4-9.5 mM) further reduced the frequency to 8.7% of the control. After a transient facilitation of the EPP, TEA (2.4-9.5 mM) in the presence of methohexitone (8.8 ′ 10-5 M) and neostigmine (3.3 ′ 10-6M) markedly reduced EPP amplitude. The contractures which TEA produced in the presence of methohexitone were not due to an increase in the spontaneous release of vesicular acetylcholine [51-84-3].
