Sample prepn. is by extn. either with EtOH for polar compds. or with acetone for non-polar corticosteroids. Sepn. is performed with HPLC and peaks of interest are detected by their UV spectra. The identification of corticosteroids is based on LC/MS and LC/MS/MS spectra. The method was successfully used in revealing the presence of corticosteroids in 3 suspect products. .
