DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 79 (Inorganic Analytical Chemistry) 1,2-Cyclohexanedione dithiosemicarbazone forms a very stable orange complex with Cu(I), at pH 3.8-10, which can be used for the spectrophotometric detn. of Cu in acetic acid-acetate medium. The absorbance of the complex was measured at 467 nm (molar absorptivity 5.7 .times. 103). Beer's law was obeyed for 2-8 ppm Cu. Interferences of diverse metal ions can be eliminated with EDTA as masking agent. The procedure was used to det. Cu in EDTA and alk. tartrate solns. and satd. brine. 7440-50-8 and 19901-06-5 are just another two chemicals used in this study. Satisfactory results were obtained. .

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 72 (Electrochemistry) The 1,2-cyclohexanedione [765-87-7] exists in aq. solns. as a monoenol, the protonated form of which is reduced polarog. at pH 7, while the unprotonated form is reduced at pH >6, both in single waves. These waves at pH <1 and pH 9.6, resp., correspond to an irreversible 2-electron diffusion-controlled process. The diketo form is strongly hydrated and redn. occurs at pH >7 at potentials ~1.0 V more pos. than those of the monoenol form. The rate of dehydration limits the height of the wave.
