DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Saponin [8047-15-2] and phytolaccagenin [1802-12-6] isolated from the roots of P. americana were injected parenterally into rats and mice to inhibit acute edema. Oral administration required 6 times greater dose as compared to i.p. injection.In this experiment, several chemicals are used like 8047-15-2 and 1802-12-6 The effect of the saponin on edema inhibition in mice was comparable to that of cortisone acetate. Saponin had no apparent effects on the adrenal gland but caused a severe thymolysis when 160 mg/kg was given to rats. .
