After purifn. by medium-pressure silica gel column chromatog. the product (1.8 g) was crystd. from EtOAc-n-hexane. Arylesterase purified from com. human serum and com. available cholinesterase hydrolyzed this substrate at a rate of 0.387 and <10-3 mmol/mL/min, resp. This compd. was used in the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis; the arylesterase activity of serum of healthy adults and cirrhosis patients was 3208 and 1599 IU/L, resp.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 35 (Chemistry of Synthetic High Polymers) In the radical copolymn. of vinylene carbonate (I) [872-36-6] with vinyl acetate (II) [108-05-4] in octane [111-65-9], the compn. of the copolymer remained unchanged throughout the reaction, despite the difference in monomer reactivities. This behavior was attributed to redistribution of the monomers in the different phases such that I was always present in the reaction zone in excess with respect to II, regardless of the starting monomer ratio. Changing the (I + II)-octane ratio from 2 to 0.2 increased the I content in the copolymer from 40 to 63 mol % at starting monomer ratio 1:1. Reactivity ratios (n) in the copolymn. were rI = 0.105 and rII = 2.34.
